The King of Morocco Plan
King Mohammed VI launched the “Vision 2010” strategic tourist development program in January 2001, aiming to make Morocco one of the world’s premier tourist destinations with a target of 10 million visitors in 2010 and to create 600.000 new jobs.
Over the next five years Morocco will experience considerable change in line with Plan Azur. The government’s £2.2 billion strategy will increase tourism from approx 4.5 million visitors to 10 million visitors by 2010.
The infrastructure development program which underpins “Vision 2010” also implies and guarantees a high degree of convergence between the requirements for and Morocco’s commitment to top class standards. This strategy has already begun to bear fruit. Since the launch of “Vision 2010,” more than 20,000 new hotel beds have already come on the market and thousands of others have been renovated.
In 2010, Morocco will have more than 250,000 hotel beds, including 180,000 located in or around the cities. Under Plan Azur six new seaside resorts ( 5 on the Atlantic coast and 1 on the Med) will provide a total of more than 40,000 hotel beds.

Mediterrania – Saidia (Mediterranean coast)

Port Lixus - Larache (South of Tangier on the Atlantic coast)
SALIXUS is the development company which will be working to complete this development located on the Atlantic Coast in the north of Morocco. With 6km of fine sand on one side and lush vegetation on the other this 500 hectare development is less than 2 hour flight from major European capitals and half an hour drive from Tangiers. With a total site size of 4,620,000m2 with 7,500 hotel beds and 4,500 residential beds it will be a large tourist development. Mazagan - El Jadida – (South of Casablanca)
Mazagan is located near to El Jadida on the Atlantic Coast. . The development has been planned in three phases and will house over 7,600 beds including 3,700 hotel beds. The first phase will include a casino, conference centre, spa and a championship 18 hole golf course which will be set around a 10 hectare sea water lagoon with natural white sandy beaches. The second and third phases will include a second golf course, luxury residential properties, three hotels and a sports academy. Awaiting release date.
Mogador - Essaouira
Mogadoris located with equal distance from Marrakech, Casablanca and Agadir, this gives the development an extremely strategic location. Essaouira is only 3 mk Hawai and is an established tourism destination with much of the infrastructure required already in place. The development will be constructed over three phases, taking a total of 7.5 years to complete. Taghazout - Agadir
The development is located 17km North of Agadir which is Morocco’s second most popular tourist destination. The development will include: residential units, luxury hotels, two golf courses, leisure facilities, shops, restaurants, bars, Morrocan Medina, spa, private hospital and much more. It will be marketed as a resort for sports and leisure activities. The contract has been awarded to the Dallah Baraka Group. Awaiting release date
Plage Blanche
This development is the southernmost resort and located 60km west of Guelmime and 250km south of Agadir. It will be marketed as ‘an Oasis by the Sea’. It will comprise of two locations within an ecological reserve of 250 square km. The development will include: 28 hotels, 300 villas, cafes, restaurants, a casino, heliport and many other leisure and sports facilities. The area is home to many rare birds and archaeological sites, appealing to the eco-tourist.
